Death Over Dinner is a global organization that helps people to sit down, break bread-and talk about death: what is a good death, what one wants, expect, fears, etc.
Let's Talk About Death by its founder Michael Hebb was inspired by the movement, but it takes the point of view that you do not need to have a meal or even gather a group of people together to talk about death. It's open to us all, all the time. It takes just three things, and explores each in turn:
Permission: We need to understand why talking about death is so stigmatized so that we feel liberated to not only take the conversation back, but to embrace it as a source of great potential growth.
An invitation: We need to understand how to ask others to talk about death with us, be it a group of strangers at a death dinner or an ailing parent.
Guidance: There's no one right way to talk about death, but there are time-tested prompts to use as conversation starters, to add levity when it's needed, and to keep a dialogue running smoothly. The 25 prompts range from spiritual to practical, from analytical to humorous.
